On Jan. 24-27, Mohegan Sun celebrated its 11th Annual Sun WineFest, which was quite different from the Fall BrewFest. The event brought out wine and spirits connoisseurs from through0ut the northeast region of the United States.
Row and rows of wine vendors were willing to provide samples of their old and new wines and spirits. Some of my favorites were:
- Canella Bellini
- Zipz Wine (Wine to go)
- Ed Hardy White Sangria (Yes, Ed Hardy)
- Jim Beam White Ghost
In addition to the great wine selections, there was a food portion.
The culinary extravaganza featured renowned chefs Todd English, Jasper White, Robert Irvine, Donatella Arpaia, and more, plus VIP tastings, celebrity chef demos and a massive oyster shucking contest. Food Network star Chef Robert Irvine held a lively halibut demonstration to a captivated audience at Saturday’s Grand Tasting before joining his fellow culinary maestros at the evening’s Celebrity Chef Dine Around.
Headliners at the exclusive evening event included none other than Chef Todd English, who delighted devoted foodies with an over-the-top “Celebration of the Buffalo” spread that included rocky mountain oysters. For those who do no know, rocky mountain testicles are cow testicles! After preparing the his dishes he headed off to Mohegan Sun’s hottest new nightclub, Avalon, where he danced the night away with other chef pals in a private VIP booth.
