Check-In: The check in process was fairly quick and easy. When I arrived in the afternoon, the front desk reception area was a bit packed. However, the lined moved pretty swiftly. I gave the receptionist my first and last name, she looked me up and within 3 minutes I had my key and my WiFi code. While I was waiting to receive my key card, the luggage attendant took my bag to my room.

Hotel Room (Grand Deluxe Room): The Grand Deluxe room was Art Deco at its finest with high ceilings, rich earth tone colors, great artwork and Italian marble throughout. At 377 square feet, the room was very spacious, enough for a two people to stay in comfort. This was my first time staying in an Art Deco style room. The style dates back to the roaring 1920s. A time when speakeasies were prevalent and life was moving at a fast pace. Stylized by over-all symmetry, curved edges and elements in groups of threes the Grand Deluxe reflected all of these traits.

The room featured high tech functions that worked well with the setting, such as the lighting system, which had me quite confused for the first 5 minutes. For the lights to work in the room, the key card has to be in the slot by the entrance at all times. This also lets room attendants know if you are in the room or not. I’m almost embarrassed to say that it took a room attendant to come in my room to tell me how to work the lights. This was a new feature that I’ve never experienced. Even though it took me some time to figure it out, I think it was a great touch, as all the lights could be controlled by the main pad at the entrance or individually.

Bedroom: The bedroom area featured a super soft king size bed, two nightstands, a table and two chairs, a desk and dresser and a flat screen TV. The great thing about the room is the original furniture that is strategically placed in the room. There was enough space to entertain guests comfortably. Included in the room was a fruit platter, still and sparkling water.

Bathroom: Marble was everywhere! The bathroom was exquisitely design with accents of chrome and glass. Although it wasn’t a very large room, the sheer elegance that radiated from it made up for the size. The room featured his and hers sinks, a comfy terry cloth stool, a toilet and bidet, a glass shower/tub combo and a towel heater. Italy’s own, Ortigia Sicilia products were used in the bath. The scents were phenomenal!

Customer Service: The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Even when I had trouble with the lighting, the attendant did not make me feel dumb, for lack of better words.

For 410 € ($512) a night, the grand deluxe room is great for those who want space, but without having to get a suite. The well thought out design with exquisite details and luxury materials made the room perfect for a long fancy getaway while in Rome. Not to mention, its close proximity to many of Rome’s famous attractions makes it best for pretty much any type of vacation, be it a honeymoon, a solo trip or a family trip.

If you are looking for a fancy suite experience, I recommend the Roman Penthouse. I had a chance to view the penthouse and it was unreal! The decor, the space and the views were spectacular. The penthouse features 1 master bedroom, 2 living rooms, 1 dining room, 2 deluxe bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, outdoor jacuzzi pool, gym, wrap around terrace and to top it off, a private butler. At 12000 € ($14,971)/night, it’s pricey, but if you have the money, go for it! Trust me, you will not regret it.
