The sun is out and it’s time to stock up on sun screen for daily use. Men should protect their skin from the effects of the sun. Besides protecting skin from potential cancers, sun block products will also keep male skin from prematurely aging due to harmful UV rays. And for different skin types, daily use of sun screen can help maintain healthy balances of minerals and vitamins. Where do you start? What type of product do you select and what are some recommended brands? Here’s some thoughts on what sun block is best for your type of skin.
Dry Flaky Skin Guy — Select a sun screen that has added moisturizers. Clinique’s Skin Supplies for Men ‘M’ Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 21 ($25) is an excellent combination of moisturizer and UV protection.
Oily Face Dude — Oily skin still can be protected from the sun’s rays. An alcohol-based product is the best way to go. A great brand to consider is Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblock Spray, SPF 30 ($9).
Tired Man Face — Even normal skin should be protected. A lightweight daily sun shield is a great option. Kiels Facial Fuel UV Guard SPF 50+ ($38). The Kiehl’s product contains caffeine and Vitamins C&E to energize and invigorate tired, dull skin. It is oil free, too.
Sporty Sweaty Bro— Most lotions will end up in the eyes of guys who are active or sweat easily. A good sports stick is a great way to coat the face, but also make sure the sun block won’t be washed off in the heat of a game of hoops. Coppertone has a great solid Sport Stick SPF 55 sunscreen ($11). BullFrog Marathon Mist Continuous Spray SPF 50 ($9) is another brand with a spray mist that’s popular with the surf crowd.
