Mercedes-Benz is bringing their luxury car manufacturing skills to a marina near you. The German auto maker launched their Mercedes-Benz yacht at the Monaco Yacht Show and wooed the crowd. This new yacht concept is collaboration with Silver Arrows Marine. Silver Arrows Marine is a collective of yacht architects and engineers. The concept is to bring the style and function of Mercedes-Benz luxury autos to the water.
Though details and design facts are yet to be provided, the new yacht although 46 feet in length will be relatively short and narrow compared to traditional yachts. The boat will be inspired by the 1930s Silver Arrow, which was a successful racing car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz.
“Our task was to explore how to apply the Mercedes-Benz design language to the particular proportions and specific requirements of a boat,” Gorden Wagener, head of design for Mercedes-Benz Cars, said in a statement. “The first yacht (is) expected to be launched within a year of the presentation of its design,” said another Daimler spokesperson.
The term yacht conjures up all types of luxe thoughts and images, but adding the distinctive and esteemed name of Mercedes-Benz to a marine vessel may have taken the term to a new league of luxury.
