The Inn at Palmetto Bluff – Ranked Best Hotel in the U.S.

This is that time of year for the lists of the very best, whether it is the best cars, best wine or the best city to live.  One of LuxuriousPROTOTYPE’s favorites is the U.S. News & World Report’s“ Best Hotels in the United States” list.  This year the number one hotel is located in an unlikely place – the Low Country of South Carolina.

The Inn at Palmetto Bluff is a member of the prestigious Auberge Resort family of luxury hotels.  Palmetto Bluff is located in Bluffton, South Carolina.  The location of this premiere hotel is the babbling May River and dense green oak trees of the area known as the Low Country of the Carolinas.  The Inn has an intimate grouping of 50 cottages in this beautiful natural 22,000 acre setting.  The guest cottages, large and spacious at about 1,100 square feet each, feature Low Country artwork, antique pine floorboards and a screened-in porch

The Inn focuses on providing its guests with as much of the local surroundings as possible.  Guests can sip on local libations or enjoy a locally made mulberry-and-rice scrub at the spa.   The property has a 3-mile gentle waterway for canoeing and kayaking.  A truly southern atmosphere prevails in the activities at the Inn like grass court for bocce ball and croquet.  There’s a Jack-Nicklaus-designed golf course as well.

This isn’t the first award for this true Southern Belle; the hotel was one of only four properties in South Carolina to receive a 2012 Five Diamond rating from AAA.  It also received the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Award for 2012 and last year was named one of the 500 best hotels in the world by Travel and Leisure.  To find out more about the Inn at Palmetto Bluff, go to their website to find out how to book your luxury get-away.
