How to Bring More Light into your Home

Do you want to bring way more light into your home? If so then you have come to the right place. This guide will help you find ways to let way more light into your home, so you can make sure that you are transforming your space in all the right ways. If you want to find out more then take a look below.

Add a Window

One of the best things you can do is try and add a window if you have a blank wall. If you can do this in a dark room then you will see a huge improvement overall. A lot of this comes down to where your home is, and what side it faces, but either way, it is a good thing to do, and it will make a lot of difference overall. Just be sure to check planning permission because if you don’t then you may find that you are not allowed to make this kind of change. If you need some help with your windows then you can hire a window service to help you with that. When you do, you can then feel good knowing that you are going to get the service you need and that the job is going to be done properly.

Introduce Light

Another thing you need to do is try and introduce light well. If you want to do this then you need to try and paint your walls white. When you do, any light that is already being brought into the room will bounce around the walls, helping to give you a way better result. If you want to make things even better then another thing you can do is try and add a mirror or two. When you do, you will notice that the light is reflected even more, which will make a huge difference. If you don’t have a lot of light to do this then you can follow the same steps but instead, add some alcove lights. This will add some softer light to the room and it will make a huge difference overall. You can create a lot of soft glow by doing this, which is great, to say the least.

Add Skylights

If you don’t have one yet, then you may want to think about introducing some skylights. If you do this then you will be able to let way more light into your home which will help you considerably. By letting more light into your room, you will be able to open up your space and you may also find that you can let the light flow into your new space. If you opt for a rectangular skylight above the kitchen area then you can also pool the light into what would normally be a gloomy room. If you have artificial lights in your home, and light spotlights, then you will soon find that it is easier for you to create a lot of warmth here. Remember that it is often the small things that end up making the biggest difference, so try and keep that in mind if you can as it will make it much easier for you to get the overall result you want.

Incorporate a Picture Window

Picture windows are also great. One thing to know about them is that they tend to be both wider and higher than traditional windows. If you introduce them then you can usually have some timber reveals as well. This is the frame that is around the top, bottom, and side, from where your window sits. One thing to take note of here is that you can turn a standard window into something that stands out for all the right reasons. You can also frame a view of your garden or anything else of the sort, so be sure to keep that in mind. Frameless glazing is great if you want to create a connection to the garden, and it also gives you increased light, which is great. If you want to take this to the next level then you can also create a window seat design if you want. More traditional window seats are synonymous with period homes, but if you use a window seat then you can turn this into something more stunning. You can dress it up with cushions or seating pads if you want, and when you do, you will notice a huge difference in your home. Of course, your window seat should be around 32 inches wide if you want it to be comfortable, so be sure to keep that in mind. If you want to snuggle up with your window seat or if you want to extend your legs along it then make sure that it’s around 48 inches.

Sliding Doors

Another step you can take would be for you to introduce sliding doors. This is a great way for you to encourage way more light into your home, and it also allows you to capitalize on your home. You can also create a glass wall if you want, which will bounce the light around the room even more. Sliding doors usually slide over each other, so even when you have them open, you have an uninterrupted view of your garden. If you can opt for doors like this, rather than ones that obstruct the view then this will help you to get the result you want, and it will also allow you to get the result you want out of the light you’re trying to capitalize on.

If you want to take things to that next level then you should also try and make sure that you are taking steps to not only make your home feel bigger but to also look bigger. Add landscape pictures with stunning views as this will help to bring the outside in, and also try to capitalize on having as many light fixtures as you can, to highlight the pictures as well, so keep that in mind.
