It wasn’t quite 50 years in the making, but Ford came up with an ingenious way to celebrate the 50th year of the Ford Mustang.
Coinciding with the New York Auto Show, a bright yellow Mustang will sit atop the Empire State building. An iconic car linked together with one of the city’s most iconic buildings.
Unable to place this special car on the iconic building via crane or helicopter, engineers and designers from Ford and a vendor worked to disassemble a Mustang and then create a way to reassemble it 86 floors above Fifth Avenue on the building’s observation platform.
With precise measurements of elevator cars and doors, the team was able to provide a unique solution for showcasing this classic car’s big FIVE O.
Be sure to check out the Mustang on the Empire State Building from April 16 to 17 and and also the New York Auto Show April 18 to the 27th at the Jacob Javits Center.
