On Saturday, May 3rd, Bryan Greenberg– actor and philanthropist hosted the third annual charity brunch for the Olevolos Project, an organization founded by his cousin philanthropist Dory Gannes. The event took place at the gorgeous Gallow Green, the rooftop bar at the McKittrick Hotel where Sleep No More is performed.
After taking a trip to Tanzania in 2010, Greenberg wanted to find a way to help disadvantaged children in Africa. Funds raised from Saturday’s event will go straight towards The Olevolos Project’s Scholarship Program, which is a nonprofit organization that supports the educational needs of orphaned students in the Olevolos Village in Tanzania (www.theolevolosproject.org).
The brunch successfully raised enough funds to support 22 school children for the next year inclusive of fees, expensive, summer camps, medical services and meals.
Guests of the event, were treated to a wonderful spread consisting of: fresh bagels, summer squash , fried chicken and fresh fruit. The cocktails were wonderful, very light and the perfect accompaniment to a brunch on a beautiful spring day.
The brunch was sponsored by Microsoft and attended by actors Hill Harper and Jamie Chung, and supported by Host Committee members who were unable to join on the day of the actual event. Those members include: Justin Long, Hillarie Burton, Jamie Hector, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Julie Henderson, Gina Gerson, Geoff Stults and Victor Rasuk. The silent auction had donated items from big name supports, such as Fly Wheel, Lia Sophia, Dreamdry, and The Stand: Comedy Club and Restaurant, Hum and Ephemera.
Big thanks, goes to the food and beverage sponsors of the brunch: Brancott Estate Wines, Mumm, Corona, Red Bull, Don Julio and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
Luxurious Prototype truly enjoyed the opportunity to attend the Olevolos Project brunch and observe everyone who came out to support such an excellent cause.
