In 2013, I resolve to:
Set my own path…
Robert Frost is often briefly quoted from his poem “The Road Less Traveled, ” but in order to fully appreciate his words of wisdom, the last few lines of the poem are important for resolving in 2013 to set our own path. Frost wrote:
“I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
Resolve to plan a vacation that is unique, filled with some adventure and has a touch of luxury thrown in so that your path is truly your own in the New Year. Here are a few interesting and unique trips that will take you on a unique journey:
Aman, Sveti Stefan, Montenegro –Setting your own path requires finding places that are off the beaten path, perhaps not well known…or at least not known by the masses. Forget London and Paris, the jet set has found a “vintage” locale to holiday. Once a “must go” by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, the seaside resort of Aman in Sveti Stefan located in the Balkan state of Montenegro is a jewel in a once war-torn nation . The Aman resort is now a grand destination for the Euro set.
MeKong River Cruise, Vietnam – Many grew up on the Vietnam War movies once populated by the Sheen men, but this once enemy state is now a great destination for those seeking a respite from the hustle of today. Set your own path in Vietnam by taking a leisurely, yet luxe, journey down the MeKongRiver.
Dress to impress…
Mark Twain once said, “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence over society.” This is as true today as it was then. Here are two menswear establishments, both old and new, that will make an impression in 2013. These men’s threads will keep you fully clothed when taking on the world and influencing society:
Hardy Amies Menswear – When seeking to impress, the British seem to have a clear advantage these days. Whether it’s Stella McCartney or McQueen, our UK cousins know how to design traditional clothing with a slight edginess to them. Hardy Amies menswear is one of those designers continuing the Cool Britannia wave that has hit the American clothing shores. It’s a bit of Buckingham Palace meets Studio 54 that rides the fence between business and casual.
Onassis Menswear – A new American upstart that has design offices in New York and Japan, this menswear line began in SoHo in 2010, but has launched a few other stores in other locations since then. The Onassis clothing line is a combination of American simplicity with Japanese innovation. Most of the jeans are made of Japanese denim which has become known for the artisan way it is crafted and its overall construction. You’ll find plenty of great clothing options sure to impress, but also will not leave a deep impression on the wallet.
Never be late…
A great resolution for the New Year: it’s important to find ways to stay on time and to make those important business lunches, social engagements, or other key life events. Always being certain to avoid that awkward “you’re late” look. Here are some items that will keep you both stylish and on time as you make your way to the top of the world:
Bulgari Octo Maserati Special Edition– The only thing to say about this watch is that it is pure beauty. The price tag is equivalent to the purchase of two Chevy Volts, but this time-keeper is one that can be worn with pleasure, keep you on time, and also help keep that “dress to impress” resolution. Fine Bulgari craftsmanship is married with sleek masculinity to create a watch suited for the timely man.
Pebbles E-Paper Watch – This Kickstarter concept watch is going to be on sale soon. This unique watch allows you to sync your iPhone or Android smartphone to make sure you never forget appointments, know what time it is, and even remember to pick up flowers for that important date. It also has unique features that allow you to create your personalized watch face.
What do you plan to resolve for 2013?
