Spring Items That You Should Have in Your Closet
Spring is finally here! After what was a very pleasant winter (by NYC standards), we now are in the season of warmer weather, pastels and outdoor activities. Of course with the change of the season comes the change in wardrobe. So let’s all rejoice in removing those fall colors and bulky layers. Don’t get me wrong, I think fall is great, but have you ever gone out and end up sweating in a bar (or on a crowded subway train) because of all the layers? Well, I have and it’s no fun!
Yes, I know, there is still layering going on during spring, but it’s usually two light layers. So no big deal and no more sweating. So you may ask what my personal style is for spring. It’s simple, I go for more of the preppy look. The general style compliments spring perfectly.
One of my favorite brands for a relaxed preppy look is Banana Republic. The brand does a great job at creating comfortable clothes that can be transitioned from a day look to a night look.
Here are some of my top spring items:
Chinos
Tee Shirt
Canvas Shoes
Leather Loafers
Chukka Boot (Desert Boot)
Faded Baseball Cap
Pastel Polo Shirt
White Oxford Shirt
Jean Jacket
Knit Belts
Sunglasses
A good book (for reading outdoors)
Here are some cool spring inspired outfit combinations:
- Pastel Polo + Light Chino + Loafer
- Denim Shirt + Emerson Chino + Desert Boot
- White Oxford Shirt + Shawl Cardigan + Denim + Canvas Sneakers
- Long Sleeve Ragland Tee + Light Chino + Canvas Sneakers
One rule of thumb that I like to live by when selecting items to add to your wardrobe: make sure it fits your personality.
I can’t say this enough. Find items that you are comfortable in and that fits all of your quirks. Trust me, it’s very noticeable when a person has on clothes that they do not feel comfortable in.
Now take a deep breath, grab a beer and enjoy spring!
