Creative Director, Bernardo Rojo, does it again with another great collection for Joseph Abboud Spring/Summer 2013. The collection seemed to take a fun casual/dressy approach to Spring/Summer. The collections featured classic high-waisted pleated trousers, candy-striped Western shirts and trucker jackets that harken back to the 50’s but with added bold colors and volumes that screams 80’s. The pairing made for an interesting and eye-catching collection. One thing that was a bit of a shock for me when viewing this collection was the use of patent leather. This is a great sign of evolution amongst the brand. Also, it shows the playfulness of the approach to the Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
The inspiration from Joseph Abboud S/S 13 collection took cues from Hollywood’s most iconic rebels, the rule breakers that defined the hero, such as “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Drive”. Rojo says, “It’s about looking back to the old glamor of American stye and modernizing it. Taking inspiration from yesterday’s icons but bringing something completely new. I believe that design is a mode of expressing one’s individuality, not suppressing it…and this collection leaves room for tomorrow;s icons to be made.”
Notable attendees: Kellan Lutz, Ryan Lochte, Alexander Ludwig, Hunter Parish, Daniel Gillies
