Get To Know: Designer John Bartlett

0Our Lifestyle Editor had an opportunity to spend some time with designer John Bartlett at the launch of his Spring/Summer 2014 “John Bartlett:  Consensus” collection in partnership with the Bon Ton department stores.

An Ohio native, Bartlett has been in the fashion business for many years.  A graduate of FIT, he has spent time as both an independent designer, but also under contract for the such labels as Claiborne.

Bartlett’s menswear is a mix of authentic male ruggedness.  His 2014 line includes brightly colored gingham that can be mixed and matched with solids, strips and even camouflage designs.  The collection has a rugged prep feel to it and at reasonable price points, it appeals to both a the fashion sense and the wallet.

Bartlett’s partnership with The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. includes both his “John Bartlett Consensus” as well as “John Bartlett Statements”. These two collections combined include sportswear, tailored clothing, underwear, lounge-wear and accessories. The collaboration with Bon-Ton also includes a collection that focuses on pets–  “John Bartlett Pet.”  In addition, Bartlett recently launched a new fashion line — “The Tiny Tim Collection” in the Fall of 2011. The collection was lovingly created by Bartlett to raise funds for his nonprofit 501(c)3 animal-rescue organization, “The Tiny Tim Rescue Fund” which helps support independent rescue groups across the country.

Bartlett’s work has earned him two Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards: the ‘Swarovski Best Newcomer Award’ and ‘Best Menswear Designer of the Year’ in 1997. In 2010 the designer was again honored, this time by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) who named Bartlett ‘Designer of the Year’. LP thanks John Bartlett for his time discussing his two passions — fashion and pets.  We wish him continued success with both!
