Brook Brothers, the company that is synonymously known for creating classic clothes as well as cultivating a lifestyle recently opened the doors to their new concept store, Flatiron Shop. The store, located at 901 Broadway in New York City, measures at 7,200 square feet of pure preppiness. Any true prep would feel completely at home as the store features hardwood floors, exposed brick, tons of classic photos, regimental stripes and tartan print fabrics and antique furniture. While this store is new to the Flatiron district, Brooks Brothers as a company is not. Brooks Brothers occupied a space between 1884-1915 at 22nd and Broadway in the Flatiron District.
The Flatiron Shop is geared toward college students and youthful working professional which is a little different from your typical Brooks Brothers store. Even though customers maybe different in age, the good ole Brooks Brothers feel is still the same. What I personally like about the clothes and the design of the store is that yet its geared to a younger crowd it doesn’t come off as forced or even pseudo-prep to attract this crowd. This new concept will attract many individuals who respect the Brooks Brothers name and great detail that goes into making each item that is sold in the store.
Besides the wonderful clothes, the store has some great features such as an upstairs lounge area where you can watch TV, surf the net with free wifi, read a book or eat popcorn. Also, in the basement level there is a foosball table, arcade game and photo booth.
Brooks Brothers will always be a staple in the preppy community and with the addition of the Flatiron Shop they are making sure they are touching every age range and generation.
