On Sunday, June 27, 2010, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic returned to Governors Island for one of the most highly-anticipated events of the season, attracting a fashionable crowd from around the globe, and featuring the glamour and excitement of polo, “the sport of kings.” The match was between RL BlackWatch and BlackRock. Nacho Figueras headed he BlackWatch team while Prince Harry headed the BlackRock team.
The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic once again benefit the American Friends of Sentebale, a charitable organization founded by HRH Prince Henry of Wales and HRH Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, who are committed to transforming the lives of the orphans and at-risk children in Lesotho, Africa, many of whom are living with HIV/AIDS. Nearly one third of Lesotho’s population is infected with HIV/AIDS, and through Sentebale’s thoughtful and effective work, the organization is striving to affect positive change in the country.
I truly had an AMAZING time at this event! Everyone came decked out with their pastels, straw hats, deck shoes, buck shoes, Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, J. Press and more! This was one of the premiere events in New York City. Upon entering I was photographed by theInfluentialArchive.com. I then walked over to the Champagne tent and bought a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rose for $18! During this time the Opening Ceremony had just begun. While engaged in the ceremony I was photographed by the legendary Bill Cunningham from the New York Times – Style Section!! (crossing my fingers that I end up in the Sunday edition).
During Half Time my frat brother, Robert McKnight (Model) arrived. As we walked the field we were being stopped for photographs, I truly felt honored! I had on green chinos, deck shoes, white and blue striped RL button down with vintage frames and a straw fedora. Robert had on khaki chinos, white bucks with green and blue argyle socks, white button down with a brown bow-tie, and blue blazer. We were getting compliments left and right. We end up meeting and hanging out with some great people.
I will be posting photos soon from other blogs and sites that took my photo.
