SPIN, the beloved ping pong social club founded in New York City with locations across North America, celebrated its 10-year anniversary last night at its famed and original NYC location paying homage to SPIN’s roots and their first “Naked Ping Pong” parties with a “rule breaking” house party. The evening celebrated the milestone of 10 locations in just 10 years (including their new Boston location) along with the preview of their new recurring programming of House Party Saturdays’ which will launch across all of their US locations next month. A diverse and energetic crowd celebrated alongside best friends and Co-Founders Franck Raharinosy and Jonathan Bricklin, tastemakers Soo Yeon Lee, Rameet Chawla, Zachary Weiss, Nina Lakhani, Gita Woosley, Diego Leon, and Judah Friedlander, from 7PM until 4AM.
SPIN 23 was transformed, reminiscent of a block party with an elevated twist that only SPIN could pull off. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a bathtub full of “Natty Lights” and “Naturdays” by Natural Light along with signature cocktails, “The Dirty Dozen” and “The Tribeca Loft”. Guests then made their way to the lifelike “basement bedroom” photo wall where they posed against a backdrop all so familiar of their childhood room.
The throwback elements continued. Party goers enjoyed classic video gaming powered by Nintendo, alongside nostalgic games like oversized PLINKO, old-school Pong while break dancers outfitted in a custom collaboration with tennis brand, BOAST danced in a private area in the 23rd street subway, only visible from the party. Inside the party, the dancing also didn’t stop. Guests battled it out with breakers, voguers, and more in front of the 10,000 record designed DJ booth and dance floor. Party-goers went crazy when Funk Flex made a surprise appearance spinning classic hip hop and disco.
But in true SPIN spirit, ping pong was still at the heart of the night. Energetic athletics was on display when ping pong greatness emerged at center court. The night celebrated the return of the famed Dirty Dozen tournament on center court. National champions and Olympic team members were on display in a 12-person single elimination tournament, where Michael Landers, one of USA’s youngest champion took home the trophy.
Guests devoured classic and unexpected SPIN dishes alongside Jalepeno poppers, Beef Wellington and “a mom’s pantry” station featuring reinvented takes on party snacks. They also received special pizza deliveries (the debut of their new $10 special) throughout the night by a SPIN “delivery boy” alongside special delivery “burger drops” courtesy of Shake Shack.
Party goers enjoyed a midnight snack attack when SPIN brought out “Boozy” Milk & Cookies along-side a candy charcuterie station giving guests a sugar rush to help them keep up with their ping pong game.
Co-Founders Andrew Gordon, Franck Raharinosy and Jonathan Bricklin reminisced about how far the brand has come in a decade since hosting ping pong tournaments in their Tribeca loft in 2007.
Blowout house party was the theme of the night. It focused on the past, present and future of SPIN, honoring the humble beginning of their original 23rd street club, while celebrating SPIN’s remarkable evolution.
