Le Souk de Soleil Dining Experience in NYC
The LP team was invited to experience LE SOUK’s new location and menu, which was created by Chef Jason Roberts of ABC’s The Chew. It was a spectacular evening comprised of an amazing belly dancer who’s only prop was a six pronged candlestick lit with actual fire! We experienced “Le Souk de Soleil” – an interactive dinner theatre experience featuring jugglers, swords, belly dancers with pet snakes and fabulous hookah flavors.
As you may or may not know, Le Souk has been around for 15 years, serving as a premier New York City nightlife destination in Greenwich Village. In past years, I have come to Le Souk for New Years, hookah evenings and DJ parties. After being closed for two months for renovations, invitee’s were treated to a VIP sit down dinner featuring specialty cocktails such as the “Fig” featuring Smirnoff Vodka, fig puree and angostura bitters- which was my drink of choice for the evening and so very delicious.
The standout appetizer of the evening was the eggplant caviar, beet puree ( tangy and creamy) and garlic flavored hummus that we were served to start, followed by char grilled baby chicken, with sweet and sour pumpkin, kale and peas. After stuffing ourselves with the delicious appetizers, we tried the mussels and char grilled calamari dish with romesco sauce and basil. This was my dining companions favorite dish of the evening, due to the romesco dipping sauce and perfectly cooked calamari.
To cap off the evening of performances, new dishes and bespoke cocktails, we had a mint and fruit flavored hookah and watched a performance by The Misshapes. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening of Le Souk de Soleil and will be adding this new incarnation of Le Souk to our nightlife rotation!
