On November 14th, Out Magazine hosted its annual Out 100 Party, an event recognizing the achievements of some of the most brilliant members of our wonderful, colorful LGBTQ community. The event took place at New York City’s Terminal 5 with a bit of glamor and a lot of class. Guests were treated to musical performances from Debbie Harry of Blondie, country star Steve Grand, The Dolls and Charli XCX of Icona Pop.
Among those LGBT achievers recognized were Wentworth Miller, DOMA plaintiff Edie Windsor, Jim Parsons and Lee Daniels. Daniels, who was honored with ‘Artist of the Year,’ couldn’t be there to accept his award – so he sent Mariah Carey instead. The pop diva made a surprise appearance to the delight of many fans saying “”I’m a straight girl, so I don’t really know why they asked me to be here — but my boobs have been out for years.”
Jonathan Groff and Russell Tovey, the stars of HBO’s new show ‘Looking,’ introduced Carey to the eagerly awaiting fans who were forced to wait quite a while for the diva’s entrance. ‘Looking,’ which is HBO’s gay answer to ‘Girls’ is set in San Francisco and will premier early next year.
