The New York Junior League (NYJL) held its 15th Annual Fall Fete “The Gilded Age” on Saturday, November 9th 2013 at the Colony Club, which served to honor many outstanding volunteers and featured a silent and live auction. The event raised money to benefit the NYJL’s philanthropic goals, most notably beautifying Tompkins Square Park with additional benches, and funding the Playground Improvement Project, a collaborative effort with the NYC Parks Department.
NYJL is comprised of women, who are committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the full potential of all women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Since 1901, the NYJL has been a leader in identifying and responding to the needs of the community. Through direct service, and partnering with other community organizations and advocates, the NYJL provides a positive force for change within the communities they serve.
This year’s Annual Fall Fete featured Auctioneer C.K. Swett, a hit with all attendees, keeping the crowd engaged, as they bid on the featured items. Some of the highest bids went to the NY Knicks VIP Ticket package, and the Ultimate Golf Enthusiasts Package at Swanoy Country Club in Bronxville, Winged Foot in Mamaroneck and The Crescent Club in Long Island. The total proceeds for the evening was $16,658.00, which will go towards supporting the NYJL critical committees and community services.
Guests dined on passed hors d’oeuvres, buffet stations with antipasti, fruits, salads, a variety of desserts and a full open bar, while they danced to the music throughout the evening. The main room of the Colony Club was filled with NYJL members and their escorts for the evening, having a wonderful time for a great cause. At the end of the evening guests were given mini red velvet and chocolate cupcakes as a sweet send off. See you next year NYJL!
