On September 26, 2013, Canon launched PIXMA PRO City Senses Gallery in which Canon showcased the awesome power of one of the most sophisticated printers on the market. Held at Venue 404 in Chelsea, visitors were invited on a tour of the senses: smell, touch, taste and sound.
In separate galleries, each viewer was given a sample which ignited the senses: in one, the smell of sunscreen, in another the feel of sand, cotton candy in another and the sound of a rollercoaster in the last. Each of these was the source of inspiration for three photographers including Norman Reedus of AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Each photographer interpreted the sensory stimuli in their own way, presenting images so crystal clear you could almost feel your toes getting wet in the sand, feel the wind of a rollercoaster rushing by and smell the popcorn and candy floss on Coney Island.
Mr. Reedus, who also acted as the event’s host, presented by far the most interesting and original takes on the sensory provocations with images ranging from the joyous to the bizarre and macabre. All in all it was a scintillating event which presented the power of technology and the magic of the human imagination.
