On Wednesday, March 12th, New York City Mission Society‘s will hosts its annual Champions for Children Gala at The Plaza’s Grand Ballroom (770 Fifth Avenue).
The New York City Mission’s Society has been improving the lives of children, youth and families in the city’s most underserved communities since 1812. As one of NYC’s most effective social services organizations, it provides education, workforce development, prevention and community building for more than 7,000 youth in Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn.
Each year the NYCMS hosts it annual Champions for Children Gala to honor it’s greatest supporters of the year. This year, they will recognize Jean Shafiroff, esteemed philanthropist, humanitarian, and tireless advocate for social services in New York with the Dina Merrill Hartley Public Service Award. Goldman Sachs Partner, Valentino D. Carlotti, will be honored with the Champions for Children Award for his leadership and generous support of youth organizations. In addition, those who founded the Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem, New York State’s first charter school will receive the Community Service Award.
The evening begins at 6pm with a cocktail hour followed by dinner and the award ceremony, hosted by Evening Anchor for WABC & 20/20 Correspondent Bill Rittter. Tickets for the night are $1000. Black tie optional.
