On Friday, November 9, 2012, The New York Junior League’s 14th Annual Fall Fête will be held at The Union Club. Savory appetizers, decadent desserts, cocktails and while guests also bid on live and silent auction items. Stephanie Ruhle, an anchor for Bloomberg Television and advocate for women’s leadership and business leadership development, will be the Auctioneer and Emcee for this year’s live auction.
This year’s live and silent auction items include: a weekend at Eden Rock in St. Barth’s; tickets to watch What Happens Live; a foursome at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster; a weekend in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan; signed sports memorabilia from the Giants, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic; vacations in Saint Lucia, Barbados and Aruba and so much more!
All proceeds from Fall Fête ticket sales will support the New York Junior League’s charitable activities, including the Playground Improvement Project, one of the NYJL’s signature community programs as well as Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in New York City. The NYJL’s community
programs are focused on four areas: Outreach Education, Youth Education, Youth Mentoring and Adult Mentoring. The community programs are staffed with NYJL volunteers who work in partnership with New York City-based nonprofit, public and community-based organizations. Community partners include Urban Dove at M.S. /P.S. 96, Bayview Correctional Facility, Children’s Aid Society, and Mentoring U.S.A.
The Playground Improvement Project (PIP) has revamped and rehabilitated neglected playgrounds and parks throughout New York City since 1992. The East River Park was selected as the 2012 PIP project, and during five weekends in April and May, an estimated 10,000 volunteer hours by NYJL and community volunteers were spent renovating the park’s playgrounds, athletic courts and gardens.
The NYJL is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Since 1901, the NYJL has been a leader in identifying and responding to unmet community needs. Through direct service, collaborations with other community organizations and advocacy, the NYJL provides a positive force for change within the communities it serves.
