The GREENWICH 2013 WINE+FOOD FESTIVAL, a three-day event presented by Serendipity magazine that benefits The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, has announced that its third annual event will take place October 3-5, 2013, at the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, CT. The festival will feature a Kick-Off Party on Thursday, October 3, a Grand Tasting Gala on Friday, October 4, and the Culinary Village on Saturday, October 5.
“This event has it all, from amazing local and celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, gourmet tastings to live music and more,” said Suni Unger, Founder & CEO of Unger Publishing, the publisher of Serendipity magazine. “More than ninety restaurants and food and wine vendors have already registered to participate in this year’s Culinary Village. We are so excited to celebrate and support the area’s thriving culinary community, in addition to such an important charity.”
Thursday evening’s official weekend Kick-Off Party, which will feature expertly selected wines paired with gourmet hors d’oeuvres, is an introduction to the weekend’s celebrity and featured chefs and event sponsors. The evening’s proceeds and wine and food-themed silent auction will benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
The Grand Tasting Gala on Friday evening is will feature tastings by the event’s featured chefs from Connecticut and New York (TBA), fine wine and spirit vendors, a live auction and a live musical performance (TBA).
On Saturday, the Culinary Village, the center of the entire GREENWICH 2013 WINE+FOOD FESTIVAL, will offer tastings and demonstrations from more than ninety food, wine, spirits and product vendors. Culinary demonstration tents and stages will house cooking presentations by celebrity chefs and local talent, including Sara Moulton, Ray Lampe (Dr. BBQ), sommelier Laurie Forster and Bravo “Top Chef All-Stars” winner Richard Blais. Guests will also enjoy sommelier presentations, a beer garden, celebrity chef book signings, a Southern Bash with barbeque, the second annual Burger Battle and live musical performances by indie rock band Dispatch, with local group the Ian Murray Band opening the evening’s musical performances. This event will take place rain or shine at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich.
A new event is also debuting this year on Saturday in conjunction with Saturday’s Culinary Village. “A Little Bit Country” will take place from 5-7pm, and feature bourbon tastings, southern style cuisine, live music, a cigar bar and the opportunity to mingle with celebrity talent from the event.
2nd Annual Burger Battle
Local restaurants will prepare their best full-size burgers for Celebrity Chef judges Graham Elliot and Richard Blais, as well as host Joe Bastianich, on Saturday, October 5, at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, CT. Now for the first time, fans can vote online for their favorite Burger Battle contestant in the new Foodies’ Choice Award.
Both winners receive $500 and will be announced on the Main Stage at 7:00 p.m.
