The Scene: 90th Annual Virginia Gold Cup with the Capital Club of DC
On Saturday, May 2nd, The Virginia Gold Cup Association hosted 90th Annual Gold Cup steeplechase horse race at The Great Meadows Polo Grounds in The Plains, VA. Each year over 50,000 steeplechase horse fans make their way to Virginia to enjoy a day filled with a activities ranging from a hat contest to terrier races.
As always, the gentlemen of the Capital Club of DC hosted yet another wonderful tent party. Guests arrived the morning of the event at a park in Northwest DC wearing their preppiest outfits. To get the party started early, guests are encourage to bring their booze on the bus for the short ride.
Once on the grounds, the guests were treated to a fully stocked open bar with Tito’s, beer, Maker’s Mark, Fireball and Chick-fil-A sandwiches. As the Capital Club members say “it’s a marathon, not a race”. But as you would guest, some people don’t follow those guidelines, but who’s to blame them? Walking down the tent lane you will see several groups partying and having an amazing time.
After the races, guests piled back on the bus to go to Mason Inn for the after-party and to watch the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight. If you were wondering, or been another planet, Mayweather won!
