On Thursday, February 27th, The Guggenheim Museum hosted the 2014 Guggenheim Young Collectors Party benefiting the Young Collectors Council (YCC).
Young art lovers and collectors gathered in the museum’s rotunda to sip on champagne, dance, connect with their friends and of course take tons of photos. Vanity Fair said that the event would “make for jealousy-inducing Instagrams”, which it did. Guest of the evening were decked out in their finest cocktail dresses and suits.
There were no cares for that evening, time seemed to suspend as DJ Chelsea Leyland mixed the sounds for the night.
There was also an interesting performance by Czech artist, Eva Kotátková.
The night featured a host of who’s who, including the chairs of the 2014 Young Collectors Party, Misha Nonoo and Alexander Gilkes, and Evan and Ku-Ling Yurman. YCC co-chairs Noreen K. Ahmad, Astrid Hill Dattilo, Anne Huntington, and Dan Tanzilli. Guests included Katrina Bowden, Joseph Altuzarra, Beri Meric, Phillip Tribel, Curtis D. Young, Anwarii Musa and members of the event host committee, including Sarah Arison, Lesley M.M. Blume, Adam Fields, Cary Fukunaga and Tiffany Zabludowicz.
Funds raised from the evening benefited the Young Collectors Council Art Fund to help purchase new acquisitions of works by emerging artists for the museum’s collection. Major support of the 2014 Young Collectors Party was provided by David Yurman.
The Young Collectors Council is designed for young professionals, ages 21–40, interested in art and collecting. Members enjoy a dedicated calendar of events that includes private programs led by curators, invitations to exhibition opening receptions, day trips to nearby art destinations, and invitations to parties and other special events. An integral part of the YCC is the Acquisitions Committee, a unique opportunity for members to meet twice a year to vote on new art works to be added to the Guggenheim’s contemporary collection. Over the last 15 years the YCC has supported the acquisition of more than 120 works for the museum.
