If you haven’t heard, Jasmine Sullivan allegedly tweeted her resignation from the music industry earlier this month. The tweets that explained her reason for the abrupt withdrawal were plastered over blog sites. Then the popular video show BET 106 & Park even spoke about it during one of their daily episodes. I still haven’t heard of an official statement confirming if her tweets were true but she recently released a song titled “I’m Not Your Robot”. If you listen to the lyrics it sounds as if she’s telling us the story behind why she decided to leave.
“I gotta get out of this program and find out who I am really am”
Is what she said in her song which is the same message she had within a few of her tweets. You can read them below:
“I’m making an official announcement that i am taking a break from music. I’m trying to figure out who i am… w/out a mike, paper or pen,”
“I promised myself that when it wasn’t fun anymore i wouldn’t do it. and here i am. I’m not saying i wont ever sing again in my life because i don’t believe that. but in this moment… rt now… i got some things to figure out.”
Coming from a person who values self awareness and is rising within the entertainment industry, I say she should pull away without any regrets. The fame and fortune will mean nothing if she doesn’t know self.
