Meadow Brook Polo Club, a revered name in the world of polo and equestrian sports, has unveiled its highly anticipated Summer 2023 Season. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Meadow Brook’s picturesque grounds, just a short gallop from Manhattan, this season promises to deliver an unforgettable fusion of athletic prowess, social elegance, and heart-pounding excitement.
Renowned for its rich heritage as the first polo club in America, Meadow Brook Polo Club has curated a captivating lineup of matches and events every Saturday beginning on June 17th through September 23rd.
Spectators of all ages will experience the thundering hooves of galloping horses, the swift precise swings of mallets, intense competition, and an exciting atmosphere blending sports, glamor, and luxury. Witness awe-inspiring displays of horsemanship and powerful strikes as the teams compete for victory, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that epitomizes the spirit of polo.
I had the privilege of attending the July 15th polo match, and I must say, it was an absolutely astounding experience. The journey to the polo field was seamless and convenient. I opted for the Long Island Railroad to Bethpage, followed by a quick Uber ride, and in less than two hours, I found myself at the venue. As a New Yorker without a car, this alternative transportation option was ideal, granting me the freedom to indulge in a few drinks without worrying about driving afterward.
Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed into the VIP tent, where a lavish spread of charcuterie awaited me, complemented by a fully stocked bar. My friends and I were fortunate enough to secure our own table right beside the field, affording us an uninterrupted view of the galloping ponies as they raced past. It was an exhilarating sight, and we were completely captivated throughout the match.
At the race’s conclusion, I had an unforgettable moment as I presented the first-place winners with their well-deserved gifts. The team members of Loud Mouth Polo, radiating graciousness and an infectious sense of fun, made this experience truly remarkable.
Each match features a resident DJ spinning the latest hits, play-by-play commentary, a halftime tradition of treading the field, photo opportunities, swag bags, player meet and greets, free roda polo lessons, food by Jennifer Oz LeRoy and Maxwell’s Plum and an Apres Polo party.
Let’s dive into the Apres Polo Party, because when it comes to a good time, I’m all in! Picture yourself hopping into an Uber, headed towards a breathtaking 100+ acre farm adorned with rolling hills and various properties, including the players’ homes and horse stables. That’s exactly what awaited me at the apres polo party. The sheer scale of the property left me in awe, utterly astounded. After exploring the expansive grounds, my friends and I found ourselves at the main house, indulging in an authentic Argentine asado, a steady flow of adult beverages, and panoramic views that stretched for miles. Time seemed to stand still in that captivating setting, and leaving was the last thing on my mind.
It was truly an immersive experience for the attendees that I’m sure will create memories that will last a lifetime.
