Secrets Playa Mujeres Spa & Golf Review
Secrets Playa Mujeres Spa & Golf is a five-star resort located 10 minutes north of Cancun, Mexico. The all-suite/all-inclusive resort is part of the AMResorts collection that has locations in Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Costa Rica – just to name a few. Unlike the typical all-inclusive resort, Secrets Playa Mujeres is top notch with unlimited premium spirits, amazing cuisine, Broadway theater style performances, free WiFi, free international calls and world-class spa and several activities. It is a pure oasis.
This adults-only playground offers 424 luxurious suites, each featuring a king-size bed (or two double beds), private terrace or balcony, full bathroom with hydrotub, complimentary mini-bar and more. Secrets Playa Mujeres has eight different accommodation options, starting at the junior suite ocean view to the presidential suite. With over 15 dining/bar options on a beach setting, it’s the perfect place to indulge.
My typical day:
- Breakfast at Market Cafe buffet with a bloody mary or mimosa
- Pool volleyball, zumba or water aerobics for my workout
- Post workout drink at the swim up bar
- Lunch at Oceana or Seaside Grill for shrimp tacos
- Kayaking or lounging on the beach with a cocktail
- Dinner at Portofino
- Post dinner dancing at Desires Music Lounge
Check-In: Upon arrival, I was greeted with a warm towel, glass of champagne and an amazing view of the expansive property. My friends and I joked as we entered the gates of the property by calling it Jurrasic Park. It really looks like a scene from the classic movie. The breezy indoor/outdoor lobby had plush seating, interesting sculptures and receptionist ready to check in the van loads of passengers. Most people take the shuttle from the airport to the resort, if you take this route, make sure to keep all of your paper work as you will need it for checking-in. The process was fairly simple, I showed the receptionist my voucher from the shuttle, my passport, signed a form and I was done. The whole ordeal took no more that 10 minutes. After checking in, I took a shuttle to the main property. The staff prefer the guests to take the shuttles to get to various places on the property versus walking.

Hotel Room (Premium Junior Suite Ocean View): First things first, the suite was absolutely stunning! Being that the resorted officially opened in November 2014, I was one of the first guests to actually sleep in the room. When I opened the door, my eyes went straight to the glass doors that led to the balcony and view of the ocean. The Premium Junior Suite Ocean View is 602 sq. ft. of marble, wood and hi-tech gadgets. The room was divided into a foyer, bathroom, bedroom, sitting room and balcony.
Foyer: The foyer featured a fully stocked mini bar, a full length mirror, Nespresso coffee maker, and a box that allows room service to leave items in without having to actually come in the room (genius!).
Bathroom: There grand bathroom featured marble floors, a sunken whirlpool tub, double sinks, walk-in shower with a waterfall head and side water head, window into the room and a separate toilet room with a telephone. The room was built to have two people comfortably used the space without having to bump into each other.
Bedroom: The bedroom featured a comfortable king size bed, two table stands, two mounted lights, an armoire, bench and flat screen television.
Sitting Room: The sitting room featured a sofa, coffee table, circular dining room table, two chairs and two large paintings.
Luxe Scale: 8.5/10
Customer Service: The customer service was absolutely amazing! The staff went out there way to make every one feel like they were at home. Every time I walked past a staff member I was always greeted with “Hola!”. It didn’t seemed forced or unreal, it truly felt genuine. The staff always seemed very attentive and cheerful. Their pleasant demeanor even lasted into the early morning. I remembering calling room service at 4:00 am to request food and the respondent answered the phone in a very cheerful tone, took my order and my food was there within 20 minutes.

Secrets Playa Mujeres is a great getaway destination for any adult of any age. You will make fast friends with the staff and other guests. I recommend going here with your significant other or with a group of friends. Although you will make many new friends here, I wouldn’t recommend taking a solo trip here. Why?
