GQ is set to open a fully functioning barbershop at Barclays Center, in partnership with Fellow Barber. The GQ Barbershop marks a bold new move for the brand and will officially open for business on Friday, January 10, during the Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat game. The 400-square-foot barbershop will be a permanent fixture on the venue’s main concourse throughout 2014, offering haircuts, shaves, and a selection of GQ-approved products during more than 100 sporting events and concerts.
A first for GQ, the barbershop signifies yet another innovative way that the brand continues to engage with readers outside the pages of the magazine.
“We are thrilled to team up with Fellow Barber and Barclays Center on the first-ever GQ Barbershop,” said Chris Mitchell, GQ vice president and publisher. “It is the ideal intersection of style and entertainment—and an opportunity for GQ to reach nearly 18,000 fans nightly. And what better place than Brooklyn, one of the coolest cities on the planet, to launch this venture.”
Often credited with the revival of time-honored barbershop traditions, Fellow Barber has been providing classic men’s haircuts and straight-razor shaves in New York City since 2006.
“We are really excited to join forces with exceptional partners like GQ and Barclays Center,” said Fellow Barber founder, Sam Buffa. “On-site we will be able to offer an entirely new audience the opportunity to experience specialty services from our talented barber team.”
